Mobile police arrested a man they say lied about being robbed.

Justin Collier called 911 Saturday morning and said he was robbed at the Family Inn at 900 West I-65 Service Road. He gave police a description of the suspect and the suspect's vehicle.

Police stopped a vehicle matching the description and took the driver in for questioning. Police determined the driver was Collier's crack dealer. The two got into a fight at the Family Inn. Collier pointed his gun at the dealer who then took the gun from him and left.

Collier was arrested for filing a false police report.

“When people call 911 and report a crime that is in fact a false claim, our officers waste valuable time and resources needlessly investigating details which are untrue; therefore diverting their time away from true crime," said Chief Phillip Garrett. "I want to make it clear that filing a false claim is a crime and it will not be tolerated by the Mobile Police Department.”
