Her Big Brother Was the Gunman

Bill Wood's family says he's been in and out of prison his whole adult life. Even though they loved him, the Wood family believes he should have never been allowed back on the streets.

Bill Wood called his sister in the middle of Sunday's high speed chase on Interstate ten asking her to pray with him. "He prayed for God to forgive him for his sins."

Carol Wood says after her big brother killed 3 people the day before, he knew he would be next. "He knew that he was about to end his life and he wanted me to be there with him"

Wood was the sole suspect in the murders of James (JJ) Tucker and his grandparents and the attempted murder of his estranged wife, Melonie. "I wanna sincerely apologize to JJ's family. This is an absolute nightmare and I just hate that my brother's pain had to affect other people." Wood had a long rap sheet and was currently out on bond for attempted murder.

Carol Wood says her brother committed those murders on Saturday as revenge for the accidental death of his son Austin back in march. The 4-year old ran onto Highway 98 to chase a skateboard and was hit by a pickup truck. Wood blamed the adults there that day. "I don't blame her. I don't blame JJ and I don't condone anything that my brother did."

That's why Carol tried so hard to convince her brother to give up during that chase. He said no. "He said I can't do that. He said I'm gonna have a shootout because I can't go to jail. So, he got out and I heard him scream I'm not going to jail and then I heard the gunshots. It was at least 50 gunshots before I finally had to hang the phone up."
