MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A federal judge has ruled that a former
Saraland youth baseball coach facing cocaine charges can leave jail
pending trial.
But the judge delayed the release of Marlon Rayford Wade II of
Eight Mile for 24 hours Tuesday to give prosecutors a chance to
appeal.
Officer John Nixon testified that officers monitored a drug deal
last week in which an informant gave Wade a kilogram of cocaine in
exchange for a 9 mm pistol and the title to the defendant's Ford
Explorer.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah Griffin was concerned by the
Wade's release because he failed to appear for court hearings
several times in the past.
His criminal record includes 31 prior arrests over the last 19
years.
