ALABASTER, Ala. (AP) - Storms moving through eastern Mississippi
and western Alabama have done some damage in a town south of
Birmingham, but no injuries have been reported.
Alabaster police say a possible tornado hit the town about 20
miles south of Birmingham Sunday. The National Weather Service has
not confirmed if it was a tornado or just high winds. Police say
the storm knocked down limbs and power lines but did no major
damage.
Also, some street flooding has been reported around Birmingham.
Tornado watches and warnings were issued for much of Mississippi
and Alabama and into parts of Georgia.
Some of the area under the warnings was hit hard late last month
with tornadoes and flooding.
