Part of the greatest generation is gathering at Battleship Park this weekend. The USS Alabama Crewmen's Association held its annual meeting and luncheon today. 24 members of the original World War II crew were there along with friends and family. Organizers say it’s important to remember their service. They say the crewmen are part of history.
“They were just kids when they manned this mighty battleship in World War Two,” says Battleship Park Executive Director Bill Tunnell. He says more than 6,000 people served on the USS Alabama. Less than 1000 are still alive today.
