MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A forensics report says semen on carpet in a
Mobile County courthouse office used by indicted former Judge
Herman Thomas came from one of the nine inmates accusing Thomas of
sexual abuse.
The state forensics report on the semen stain was introduced
April 9 during a hearing before the Alabama State Bar in
Montgomery. The Bar temporarily suspended Thomas' law license
following his indictment in Mobile and rejected his appeal to
regain it.
Charges include kidnapping, sodomy, sexual abuse, extortion and
ethics violations related to his tenure as a judge. He remains free
on bond and has not entered a plea.
Thomas resigned from the bench in 2007, prior to a judicial
ethics trial that could have led to his ouster.
