WASHINGTON (AP) - Thousands of children will play on the White House's south lawn during one of Washington's most anticipated
annual events: the Easter Egg Roll.
This rite of spring, which dates back to 1878, is named for races that challenge children to push eggs across the grass using
oversized spoons.
The first egg roll since President Barack Obama took office in January also includes cooking classes, musical performances and
storytelling. The talent lineup includes singers Fergie and Ziggy Marley.
This year's theme, "Let's go play," is meant to encourage young people to lead healthy, active lives.
