The Alabama State Bar's disciplinary commission has denied an appeal to reinstate former Mobile Circuit Court Judge Herman Thomas's license to practice law. The panel deliberated for less than an hour in Montgomery before issuing a decision.

Earlier in the morning, Herman Thomas, who attended the hearing with his wife, gave sworn testimony denying all charges of trading sexual favors for leniency in the courtroom. The former judge is charged in a 57 count indictment accusing him of paddling jail inmates in his private office at Government Plaza.

Thomas had asked the Alabama State Bar to dissolve its order suspending his law license.

WKRG was the only television station in Montgomery covering the Herman Thomas hearing. Jessica Taloney will have the full story on News 5 at 5 and on wkrg.com
