Whether you have tender tropical plants, or a new vegetable garden, many will be watching temperatures tumble.
Ernie Wilkerson from Laura Kay's Nursery has some advice for you: "Grandpa said don't plant before Good Friday anything that you don't mind replacing because we always get a cold spell before Easter. And sometimes, it's real cold."
Ernie says that more and more people are planting vegetable gardens, and he thinks it has to do with the economy.
"I sold out of vegetables the first week I've had them, I've never done that in one week."
Here is some advice for the freeze:
-Take a nursery pot and cover your plants up. If you got a bigger plant get a bigger pot. Just be sure to bury the edge of the pot with this wind blowing so it doesn't blow back off.
-Take the pot off before 8:00 am, or the plant could be damaged by the heat.
-Water can be your friend during a freeze!
-As ice forms, Ernie says, "What's under the ice is warmer than what's above the ice."
-If you have hanging pots, take them down, and put them behind bushes on the ground.
Be careful covering plants with heavy blankets, the weight may damage the plants worse than the weather!
