MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A federal judge in Mobile has sentenced a
Louisiana man to more than seven years in prison for possessing
nearly 1,500 Ecstasy pills.
U.S. District Judge William Steele last week sentenced
33-year-old Richard Eric Williams of Bridge City to seven years and
three months. Williams' lawyer said he would appeal.
Steele says Williams had one of the worst arrest records he had
ever seen, even if many of his arrests failed to bring convictions.
His record included arrests for manslaughter, attempted murder,
assaulting and interfering with police and possession of firearms
in connection with drugs.
Records also show that Williams was convicted of possession with
intent to distribute cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of a
sawed-off shotgun and attempted murder.
