PEARL, Miss. (AP) - Authorities in Pearl, Miss., took a
3-year-old boy and about 28 dogs and cats from the house of a
64-year-old man, and declared the house unfit for people.
Capt. Ronnie Conerly says police arrested Gerald Keyes late
Thursday after answering a domestic disturbance call from his adult
son, who also lived there.
The boy - also believed to be the older man's son - was in
custody of the state Department of Human Services on Friday.
Police say Keyes, his wife, and the sons all lived in the
1,100-square-foot house.
Animal Control took about 14 dogs and 14 cats. Several animals
ran off and were not caught.
Pearl Animal Control officer Heather Rogers said there were
feces all over, and an overpowering stench of urine.
