OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. - The Chief Deputy of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Mike Coup, has been let go by the new Sheriff, Ed Spooner.
Sheriff Spooner took the action after an internal investigation into his recent conduct.
Chief Deputy Mike Coup is part of a federal investigation into criminal financial allegations against former Sheriff Charlie Morris and OCSO Finance Director Terry Adams.
Assistant Director of Information Tecnology, David Yacks, was also let go today amidst allegations of misconduct.
Former sheriff Morris was arrested back in February in Las Vegas. Federal prosecutors say Morris and is Director of Administration and Finance created fictitious bonuses for department employees. The employees were then told to return some or all of the bonuses because the money was being donated to charities.
