Streets Barricaded Near Bayou Sara

Heavy rain fall caused flooding in several Saraland Streets.

People living in Saraland got a close call when heavy rain fall caused flooding.

Courtauld Avenue looked like a lake earlier this evening. Several streets in the Shelton Beach Estates had to be barricaded. Flood waters caused Bayou Sara to overflow into the backyards of several neighbors.

Mike Law says this happens everytime there's a strong storm. He says it usually doesn't take that long for waters to receed, but he says a clogged tributary is to blame. "It's full of debris, full of limbs, trees, bushes everything even in just a hard regular rain this thing fills up and floods over here," Said Law.

Fortunately flood waters didn't get inside any homes. The City of Saraland is in the process of installing a pump to help with flooding in the future.
