Heavy rains in Bay Minette Tuesday afternoon caused street flooding and almost sent water into some homes.
The high water was on Grove Street.
74 year old Bertha Barnes said the street flooding started about 1 p.m.
Barnes said, "I knew it was raining and then I came to the door and it was right up to the door."
The water didn't get in her house, but Barnes said it has many times in the past.
Neighbors told similar stories.
Jimmy Lee Watson said the water had gotten in his home about three or four times.
Richard Mims, Junior said, "I have had about four or five foot of water in my house."
People who live on Grove Street said they've complained to Bay Minette city officials.
Mims said, "I told them you can come down here and look and I can show you how low this spot is."
Coincidentally, the city councilman who represents this district, Melvin Bradley, lives one street away.
And his backyard was flooded, too.
When asked if there was anything the city could do about the problem, Bradley said, "They (developers) should have built it (the land) up before they built those houses. That's the biggest problem."
Bradley said the city just had a sewage system put in the area a few years ago, but Tuesday's rain was more than the system could handle.
