West Mobile Mom Shoots Son

A West Mobile man is in stable condition after being shot by his own mother early Thursday morning.

Perry "Steven" Fields' mother Sherry Pierce tells us that he was temporarily staying with her on Brandy Lane South.

Pierce admits that they had all been up late Wednesday night drinking and her son is not a "happy drunk." She also believes that Fields suffers from a mental condition.

Pierce says just before 5am, Fields got mad and kicked down her bedroom door. She believed she had no other choice but to pick up a gun and start shooting.

Tasha Fields has been staying with her husband since the shooting. She says her husband doesn't have mental problems and didn't attack his mom. "I don't know if they were trying to cover their tracks or what you know. Steven kept saying they come at me and he has no mental problems. He's never been diagnosed with anything."

Fields is now in stable condition at USA Medical Center after being shot multiple times. A grand jury will decide if his mother will face any charges for the shooting.
