A Six-year veteran of the Alabama Department of Corrections was arrested this weekend. Department of Corrections spokesperson Brian Corbett says corrections officer Shawn McBride was arrested for "promoting prison contraband." Corbett says McBride was randomly searched early Sunday morning as he was reporting to work at the Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore. That's when twelve individually wrapped packets of marijuana were found on him. McBride resigned his position at the correctional facility before being booked into Escambia County (AL) Jail that same morning. McBride was not listed as an inmate and booking information on bond was not readily available Monday afternoon.
