ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Two employees at a New Mexico hospital
were using their cell phone cameras to take pictures of patients
getting treatment. And they posted the images to a social
networking Web site.
They've been fired.
A spokesman at the University of New Mexico Hospital in
Albuquerque says the photos were mostly close-ups of injuries being
treated at the hospital's emergency room over the past few months.
He says they were posted on an employee's private MySpace page.
The patients can't be notified, because there's no way to know
who they are -- their faces and other identifying features were
removed from the photos.
The MySpace page couldn't be accessed by the general public --
only by the employee's online friends.
The spokesman says a few other hospital employees have been
disciplined, and that the investigation is continuing.
