The Baldwin County beach community is trying to bounce back after taking a hit this hurricane season. The 42nd Annual Alabama Invitational fishing tournament was able to take place this weekend at Orange Beach. It's usually held over Labor Day weekend, but organizers had to postpone it twice because of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. As a result, only 20 boats participated out of the usual 100. Meanwhile over on Gulf Shores, businesses like the Pink Pony Pub and the Hang Out Restaurant were trying to make the most out of the last weekend of summer. The two had to temporarily close their doors when the storms rolled through. "We're open, we would have liked to have seen more people. Unfortunately Labor Day was killed with Fay, I believe. But when mother nature throws a curve ball you can't do much about it, you just pick up the pieces and move on,"Said Wade Peryer, the General Manager for The Hangout. Despite the brief setback, Peryer says since the restaurant's opening in May, their sales have continued to increase.
