LAS VEGAS (AP) - Opening statements have begun in O.J. Simpson's
trial on charges that he robbed two sports memorabilia dealers in
Las Vegas a year ago.
Prosecutor Chris Owens has begun outlining the case against
Simpson, who flashed a thumbs-up sign as he arrived at the
courthouse Monday.
Simpson and co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart have pleaded
not guilty to 12 charges including kidnapping, armed robbery and
conspiracy.
Simpson's defense claims he was trying to retrieve personal
property.
Both defendants could face life in prison with the possibility
of parole if convicted of kidnapping, and mandatory prison time if
convicted of armed robbery.
