Copper Thieves Strike Vigor High...Again!

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Copper thieves struck again at Vigor High School.
Mobile County Public School officials say this is the fourth time this year students and teachers have been left without air conditioning.
The latest crime happened last week.
The cafeteria and a couple of classrooms were affected.
Fans had to be brought in and doors kept open to keep the rooms cool.
Facilities Director Tommy Sheffield told us that thieves stripped six air conditioning units this go 'round.
"Being on a roof, there is no forced entry to a building. From what we can determine, they're bring ladders getting on the roof at night and just taking, stripping the coil off the unit itself and they're in and out evidently in a pretty short time frame and they're gone," said Sheffield.
Thieves caused more than $22,000 in damages.
School officials say it could be another two weeks before they can replace the air conditioning units.
