FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Attorneys for two teens accused of
beating homeless men in Broward County are requesting a change of
venue.
This comes a week after several jury panels were dismissed
because of concerns that people had already formed opinions on the
highly publicized case. Judge Cynthia Imperato said Tuesday she
could rule on the request later this week.
Twenty-one-year-old Brian Hooks and 19-year-old Thomas Daugherty
are charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in the
2006 attacks of three men in Fort Lauderdale.
One homeless man died after he was beaten with baseball bats.
The other two suffered broken bones and lacerations. One attack was
caught on surveillance video.
Hooks and Daugherty face life in prison if convicted.
