Investigators says a suspected drunk driver nearly kills three Foley police officers! Officers working an alcohol-related accident on Highway 59 had to run for their lives when another suspected drunk-driver slams into a parked police cruiser.
"When I saw the video it angered me," says Foley Police Chief David Wilson. "It made me mad that that person was drunk and nearly killed my officers."
The police-dash cam captures the entire incident. The driver and his stunned passengers stagger out of the smashed car. One of the men collapses on the ground. Several people were hurt in the wreck. Wilson says the driver was drunk.
Wilson says alcohol related accidents are up in South Baldwin County, prompting him to create a DUI enforcement unit. Officers specially trained in DUI investigations will patrol the city around the clock.
"We'll probably have more drunk drivers on the streets with the holidays approaching," says Wilson. "If you want to drink and drive, we've got folks that are looking for you and we've got a unit that specializes in looking for you."
