The Coast Guard rescued 32 people from a sinking charter boat 12 miles south of Pensacola.

Jim Westbrook, captain of the New Florida Girl, contacted the Coast Guard around 9:30 Monday morning. His charter boat was taking water.

Members of the Aviation Training Center Mobile flew out to the boat and lowered dewatering pumps.

Two 41-foot Coast Guard boats from Station Pensacola and the 87-foot Coast Guard cutter Seahawk were launched to assist in the rescue.

The Seahawk is escorting New Florida Girl back to Destin Harbor.

The New Florida Girl is a fishing charter boat. She was about an hour and a half into a half day trip when she started taking on water.
