FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - A Florence man was arrested for breaking
into vehicles at a car rental business after police found him
asleep inside a passenger van.
Florence police detective Monty Merryman said 23-year-old
Russell Anthony Andrews has been charged with seven counts of
unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle and one count of
third-degree theft of property.
Merryman said the arrest came after patrol officers heard a car
alarm. When they got to Enterprise Rent-A-Car, they noticed several
cars had been gone through and found Andrews asleep in a
15-passenger van.
He said Andrews is accused of taking CDs, DVDs and other items.
He said all the vehicles were unlocked and were not damaged.
Andrews was being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center
on bail totaling $18,500.
