MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - While Tomasene Stevenson was getting
married, police say a thief was stealing her purse and taking money
from her bridesmaids' bags.
The bride's mother, Mabelenia Stevenson, said Monday that her
daughter's passport, which she needed to go on a honeymoon cruise
in the Caribbean, was in her purse. Also inside were her medical
insurance card, driver's license and checkbook.
Stevenson and her new husband, Edgar Marshall, were in Tampa
Monday, where they planned to board the ship. The bride's mother
said her daughter would be able to board, but wasn't sure she'd be
able to get off in the Caribbean.
Mabelenia Stevenson said only a "desperate person" would steal
during a church wedding and said she hoped the thief would at least
return her daughters documents.
