Long lines formed this morning as people waited to hear Presidential candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle. She'll be rallying troops for her husband at the Pensacola Civic Center. It's a similar scene to exactly two weeks ago, when crowds packed in to see potential Vice President Sarah Palin, minus umbrellas. It's a turbulent time for the campaign. Obama announced that he will suspend his campaign on Thursday and Friday to travel to Hawaii to visit his 85-year-old grandmother who's in detereorating health. Now Michelle will be taking over for Barack at stops planned for Ohio in both Akron and Columbus. Today's speech in Pensacola may be a warm-up as the potential First Lady goes to bat for her spouse. News 5's Tiffany Craig is at today's rally. She describes the scene in Pensacola as "electric." There is a small, yet vocal group of McCain supporters strategically positioned within earshot of everyone entering the civic center. There's a good number of people from Mobile that have made their way over to attend today's rally. Unlike Palin's rally, those in attendance today didn't need tickets, and it's made the event seem a little less organized.
