TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida's unemployment rate is 6.6
percent, or the highest it's been in 14 years.
The September unemployment rate is the same as the adjusted
August rate. The state initially reported the August rate was 6.5
percent. The rate is 2.4 percentage points higher than September
2007.
That means 613,000 employable Florida's are out of work,
according to the report released Friday. The state has lost 115,500
jobs since last September.
Florida's unemployment rate is also higher than the national
rate of 6.1 percent.
