Deputies Cars Hit In High Speed Chase

Mobile County Sheriff's Deputies said a high speed car chase ended with a Theodore man ramming into two deputies cars.
Deputies arrested Donald Lee Hollingsworth.
The chase happened about 3:30 Wednesday afternoon on I-10 at McDonald Road.
Sheriff Sam Cochran said deputies had been following Hollingsworth for about seven miles.
Cochran said, "He sideswiped or ran into the side of the vehicle of one of the deputies, then he (Hollingsworth) spun out and came back and crashed into another deputy head on."
The deputies weren't hurt, but Hollingsworth was taken to a hospital to treat his injuries.
Why were deputies trying to stop Hollingsworth?
Cochran said detectives had identified him as a suspect in an ongoing investigation involving methamphetamines or meth.
Cochran said, "Today, he (Hollingsowrth) was observed purchasing ephedrine, which is one of the ingredients of methamphetamine. He was also observed buying two cans of gasoline cans, and also tubing. These are common components used in the manufacture of meth."
What's more, Cochran said deputies found methamphetamine inside Hollingsworth's car.
Hollingsworth is being charged with attempted assault, possession of controlled substances and resisting arrest.
Cochran said a program called meth initiative tries to keep the drug out of the community.
Cochran said, "We've obtained records from the drug stores and other stores that are licensed to sell the ingredients of methamphetamine. He has been identified through that program."
Authorities said Hollingsworth has a history of prior drug arrests and the investigation is continuing to see where he might have been making the meth.
