MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Traffic tickets against state Sen.
Lowell Barron have been dismissed.
Barron had been scheduled for trial Tuesday afternoon in
Andalusia on tickets for reckless driving and running a stop sign.
But Barron's attorney reached an agreement with the district
attorney to dismiss the tickets because of legal questions about
how they were issued.
Barron is a seven-term senator from Fyffe and is chairman of the
powerful Senate Rules Committee. He received the tickets in July
while returning from a family vacation. Barron's lawyer had argued
that the tickets weren't proper because they were signed by a
former Andalusia police officer.
