PARIS (AP) - France's president says he expects "an ambitious,
coordinated plan" for the world financial crisis from today's
meeting of 15 euro countries in Paris.
Nicolas Sarkozy (sahr-koh-ZEE') is not alone in his desires.
Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel (AHN'-geh-lah MEHR'-kuhl) says
she hopes leaders can provide a "very important signal for the
markets."
The euro countries are trying to come up with a joint approach
that will help them individually without hurting each other. Merkel
has said one possibility is a "common toolbox." Countries could
use any of the approved tools for their particular situation.
Sarkozy says he'll announce "a certain number of measures"
tomorrow for France.
European officials say one proposal sure to be discussed is
government guarantees of interbank loans in order to unfreeze
credit markets.
