Gas Falls Below $3.00 A Gallon In Mobile

But concern over the economy dampens the encouraging news.

Gas prices continue to fall around the Mobile area.
Friday afternoon, the Murphy station at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Moffett Road was selling regular unleaded gasoline for just over $2.95 a gallon.
The cheaper gas prices mean an even more enjoyable weekend for one person News Five found.
Sidney Allen of Semmes said, "I'm filling two gas tanks up to put in my boat so I can go fishing tomorrow."
Allen said the cheaper gas prices allow him to go farther out to catch fish.
Indeed, the numbers on gas prices signs are going down.
But the numbers on the stock market are going down, too.
That contributes to tough economic times.
Jimmy Harrison is a sales person for a beverage distributing company.
He said, "Business is not as good as it used to be. You're not making as much money when you work on percentage. So that hurts, when you don't have that steady income coming in."
Brian Roberson installs flooring.
He said, "We're struggling to make work go right now because you've got people not being able to buy the materials, people not being able to get the materials to us."
Anne Booker of Semmes added, "Gas is going down, but you don't see anything else going down."
So, lower gas prices are a welcome sight, but as for the economy, Lacey Gordon of Wilmer said, "If its not affecting you, I wish I were in your shoes."
