Today is Black Friday and it's considered the official start of the holiday season. many people across our area lined up early Friday morning for day after Thanksgiving sales.
At the J.C. Penny at Bel Air Mall in Mobile, hundreds of people tried to secure their spot this morning as they waited patiently for the doors to open at four o'clock. Once inside, they found bargains, discounts, and door buster deals.
Some financial experts said they didn't think many people would be out shopping today because of the economy...some say they thought wrong.
"I was not expecting to see that many people out and there are a ton of people out and I just left Walmart and this is my second store and both stores were packed with all types of people variety ages and everything so I don't think it's as bad as people are thinking," said Christy Redd of Mobile.
Some shoppers told News Five that the bad economy has changed how they're paying for their merchandise. Many are using cash instead of credit cards.
