FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Police say a teacher at a Fort
Lauderdale elementary school punched an 8-year-old student in the
eye.
Authorities say 36-year-old art teacher David A. Grant hit the
student around his left eye with a loosely closed fist, causing a
bruise above the eye. The incident occurred Nov. 5 at Sunland
Elementary School. It was unclear what started the alleged assault.
Fort Lauderdale police say Grant turned himself in after
detectives contacted him. Grant was charged with child abuse. A
telephone listing for David Grant rang unanswered Tuesday seeking
comment.
