SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - A state plane carrying Gov. Charlie Crist
has made an emergency landing in southwest Florida.
According to a news release, the plane experienced "mechanical
difficulties" before landing in Sarasota on Tuesday afternoon. The
aircraft recently underwent service for a generator malfunction,
but the details of its latest mechanical problems weren't yet
known.
Crist was flying from Bushnell to Miami for a press conference.
He was expected to announce a revised deal between the state and
the nation's largest producer of cane sugar to buy farm land for
Everglades restoration.
The press conference has been rescheduled for Wednesday.
