People in Mobile are offering their thoughts on what area of our economy needs attention first.
President-Elect Barack Obama said his top priority is to get Congress to approve an economic stimulus plan for Americans.
Obama announced at a news conference Friday the plan would extend jobless benefits, send food aid to the poor, and dispatch medicaid money to states.
First, we asked shoppers at Bel-Air Mall what they would like to see improved about the economy.
Rod Leachman of Mobile said, "The unemployment report came out today and there was whole lot of unemployment. It seems like its gone up, so people are needing jobs. They need to keep working."
Mark Mitchell of Mobile said, "I think another tax rebate would be nice. It helped out last year."
However, Cassandra Morrissette of Mobile said, "I'm more worried about our jobs. We need help with the people that are losing the jobs and make sure that people that have jobs continue to have their jobs."
Jennifer Burger of Mobile had a similar answer.
She said, "There are so many people that don't have jobs right now. It affects everybody. My uncle doesn't have a job right now. He's kind of in-between trying to get something."
Then we asked the same question of people going to the Junior League of Mobile's Christmas Jubilee being held this weekend.
Susan Duhe of Mobile said, "I'm concerned in our community about jobs. I think that's important. We have a lot of people that are really hurting."
When asked what he would like to see fixed first regarding the economy, David Horn of Mobile said, "People charging for things what they're actually worth instead of inflating them so much."
Roxann Dyess of Mobile said, "I think jobs, mainly. Every state and city I'm sure needs jobs."
And Gilbert Tucker of Mobile said, "Concentrate on maybe trying to create some more jobs here in America, and bring some of our work back home that's overseas right now."
Also, as part of his economic stimulus plan, President-Elect Obama said he wants Congress to spend tens of billions of dollars on public works projects.
