Frightening Halloween Police Chase

Summerdale Police Officer T.J. Palkovic says all he wanted to do was let the driver know his license plate was about to fall off...but the driver had no intention of stopping! Palkovic and his partner attempted to stop the driver using a technique called a rolling road block, but the suspect nearly ran one of the officers off the highway.

Moments later, the chase goes "off-road" and the driver nearly wipes out. But the Halloween desperado still has a few tricks up his sleeve...the driver backtracks and heads towards the county landfill. His SUV plows through a gate and crashes in a swamp. The driver is critically injured.

"It was a simple traffic warrant that the individual did not want to be arrested for," says Palkovic. "He is now in Mobile's trauma unit with serious injuries due to a crash from trying to elude us. It just doesn't pay. It's not worth it."

The suspect, identified as John Ard, now faces multiple charges, including reckless endangerment, eluding police and criminal mischief for the damage he caused when he crashed at the landfill.
