STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Authorities at Mississippi State
University are investigating an alleged kidnapping attempt and a
Saturday morning campus shooting.
Campus police say there were no injuries in the shooting, but an
18-year-old female student did report being approached by a male
wearing black clothing with a bandanna covering his face.
MSU Police Chief Georgia Lindley says a male allegedly showed
the unidentified female a gun and asked her to leave with him. The
student ran toward a friend and both reported hearing a shot fired
as they left the area.
Police received a report at about 4 a.m. that a shot had been
fired in a parking area behind Hathorn Hall, a residence hall on
the southern part of campus.
