UNDATED (AP) - The Alabama Crimson Tide are now the number-1
team in the Associated Press Top-25 College Football Poll and the BCS Standings. The
Tide, who are unbeaten in 9 games this season, replace Texas. The
Longhorns suffered their first loss of the season yesterday to this
week's second-ranked school, Texas Tech. Like Alabama, Tech is
unbeaten in nine outings, as is Penn State, the third-ranked school
this week.
Alabama was a heavy favorite in the balloting of sportscasters
and writers as the Tide received 46 first-place votes to 12 for
Texas Tech, 6 for Penn State and 1 for fourth-ranked Florida. The
fifth-ranked team is Texas.
