Loxley Hazmat Scare

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A truck driver taking a break at the Shell gas station on Highway 59 in Loxley had quite an afternoon Tuesday. The driver noticed some type of chemical leaking from his tractor-trailer while doing a routine inspection before getting back out on the road. The man called police who quickly roped off the area and
then called in an emergency environmental clean-up team.

Clean-up crews suited up in protective gear and entered the back of the truck to look for the chemical. Most of the items were unloaded off the back of the truck to find out where the leak was coming from. Late Tuesday, Loxley Police Chief Chip Cason told News 5 the chemical was probably antifreeze and says drivers or people in the area were never in danger.
