TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Supreme Court is hearing
arguments in the death sentence appeal of a man convicted in the
baseball bat slayings of six people over an Xbox video game system.
Jerone Hunter was part of a group of people who clubbed the
victims with baseball bats and stabbed them in a Deltona home in
2004.
His attorney had argued that his client should not receive the
death penalty because he suffers from schizophrenia.
Arguments are scheduled to begin Monday.
Investigators said the ringleader in the violent attacks was
angry because one of the victims had taken his Xbox video game and
some clothing from her grandparents' vacant home where he had been
squatting.
