BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visits
Birmingham on Friday.
Pelosi and United States Representative Artur Davis will visit
The Lakeshore Foundation.
They will meet with veterans participating in its injured
veterans program.
The two are scheduled to be at the foundation at 4:30 p.m.
Republican Governor Bob Riley and Democratic Alabama House
Speaker Seth Hammett have urged Pelosi to accept the Air Force's
decision to award a tanker contract that would create 2,000 jobs in
the Mobile area.
Riley held a ceremonial signing Thursday of a resolution passed
by the Legislature encouraging Pelosi to support the contract.
