At a bond hearing in Bay Minette Friday morning, Carolyn Middleton apologized to Jacob Clemmons' family for causing the 20-year old rodeo star's death.
"We don't accept her apology," says Jacob's mother, Diane Clemmons. "I've prayed every night asking God to please let me die so I can go be with my baby."
Middleton's bond was set at 100-thousand dollars in the manslaughter case. Investigators say Middleton was drinking when she slammed into the car Jacob was a passenger in last month.
"I cringe everytime I see the accident scene," says Erica Clemmons, Jacob's cousin. "I was driving the car when it happened and I watched my cousin and best friend die in my lap. His blood was everywhere."
"What was so important that she got on that road drunk and took the life of my son," says Clemmons.
If Middleton makes bond, she'll be under house arrest and and will undergo weekly drug and alcohol screenings.
