Birmingham, AlabamaWKRG, the Media General-owned television station in Mobile, Alabama has been recognized for excellence in journalism. In the first combined single-day awards ceremonies for the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association and the Alabama Broadcasters Association, WKRG received nine first place news awards.

In the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association, WKRG competes against television stations in Birmingham and Mobile in the Large Market category. WKRG is the only Mobile station to win Alabama AP Awards this year. In the Alabama Broadcasters Associations award competition, all statewide television stations compete against each other.
