High Gas Prices And Volunteers

Groups like Habitat for Humanity can use more helping hands.

A group that helps build homes for the needy in Mobile can use your help.
Officials with Habitat for Humanity in Mobile County are looking for volunteers to finish homes in Citronelle.
Habitat officials dedicated one home there Thursday, but they are building four others.
Brenda Lawless with Habitat for Humanity said it took several months to build that home.
She said, "It has been a tough, tough challenge for us because we had such a shortage of volunteers in the northside of the county."
Habitat leaders say they had an increase in the number of volunteers at the end of the school year, but Lawless said, "This summer and any summer, especially the last three years since Katrina has just been flat lined with trying to get volunteers. And now, we've got the gas prices sky high, its tough, its really tough."
What's the reward for volunteers?
Plenty of smiles on the faces of people like Celena Still and her two daughters.
They moved into the Citronelle home that was just completed.
When asked how it feels to move in, Still said, "That's undescribable. The joy just drips off."
