Some "so-called" promoters used the country's biggest rap star to scam hundreds of people out of money.
A group of men claiming to be with Coastal Boy Entertainment signed a contract with Club Illusions in Mobile.
The men promised Lil Wayne would perform for a Summer bash this past Saturday.
He never showed up but before anyone could figure out what was going on, one of the men ran off with more than $40,000 in cash.
Hundreds of fans were not happy.
"People were just cussing, they were mad, angry, there was no way for us to please everybody. We didn't know who paid for what. We just tried to keep a calm, calm demeanor, get everybody out and we had to call the police to kind of calm the situation in the parking lot," said Club Illusions Employee Peter Dais.
The owner with Club Illusions Sean Walker said the name on the contract was fake and the contact number he had is now disconnected.
Mobile police are investigating.
