The woman Prichard police identified as being wanted in connection with a prescription drug scam is not the right woman after all.
Tuesday morning, Police said the woman in the surveillance photos, trying to fill bogus prescriptions for painkillers, was 32-year-old Apryl Stringer Henderson of Theodore. But when Henderson showed up at police headquarters this afternoon, police realized they were looking for the wrong woman.
"I was an absolute nervous wreck," Henderson said. "I known I had not done that."
Police tell News 5 Henderson's mother called them after seeing the surveillance photos and said the woman they're looking for is her daughter. Police put out a bulletin for Henderson and went to get an arrest warrant signed before they realized Henderson's mother falsely accused her daughter.
"(News 5 photojournalist) Have you talked to your mother? (Henderson) I have not. (News 5 photojournalist) What do you think about what she did?" (Henderson) No comment."
Now it's back to the drawing board. Police will try once again to identify the woman in the surevillance photos.
The Loritab prescriptions were written on prescription pads police say Kendrick Brinkley stole from local medical centers.
Police are also still trying to find Brinkley.
