KRANJ, Slovenia (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton has a fan in the
Republican ranks.
First lady Laura Bush says she admires the "grit and strength"
the New York Democrat demonstrated in the long, hard-fought
primaries with Barack Obama.
However, she added that if a woman is to be elected president,
she'd prefer one from the GOP.
Mrs. Bush also defended the comments of Michelle Obama, who has
been criticized for saying that for the first time in her adult
life she's proud of the United States.
The first lady says she thinks her would-be successor probably
meant that she's "more proud" than she was before -- adding,
"you have to be very careful in what you say."
Laura Bush, who is visiting Slovenia, was interviewed on ABC's
"Good Morning America."
