Just when drivers thought it was smooth sailing on Florida Street, something stopped them dead in their tracks.
When they got to the intersection of Emogene street, they saw a big roadblock sign saying "Road Closed."
It's part of the the city of Mobile's second phase drainage project.
Some drivers told News Five they were caught off guard and frustrated that work on Florida street had started so soon after it just reopened to traffic a month ago.
"Absolutely frustrating! To have gone through months and months of road construction and think it's over and pull up today to see the road closed again. Unbelievable!" said Steve Harmon of Mobile.
The project is expected to be finished by March of next year.
