Erin Markes has regained custody of her 4-year-old boy who only weighed 10 lbs. when he was brought to the hospital back in March.
At a hearing this morning, a judge granted the 19-year-old Pace mother's motion for reunification as long has her son remains in Hospice care.
The Department of Children and Families contacted the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office on March 12th when Markes' son was brought to Sacred Heart Hospital. She was originally charged with child neglect, but those charges were dropped last month. Markes and her supporters say the boy suffers from Lissencephaly, a rare and often fatal brain condition that can cause dramatic weight loss.
