Fire At Lowe's On Rangeline Road

Heavy smoke from power box in the parking lot. Store is not damaged.

Fireman say a power box in the parking lot behind Lowe's Home Improvement Store on Range Line Road caught fire this afternoon, causing several units of the Mobile Fire Department to respond to what at first appeared to be a fire in the building. That did not turn out to be the case. Some of the smoke from the burning power box drifted into the building, and firemen checked inside but found no fire, or any fire damage.
Alabama Power is checking out the power box. No indication of what caused the box to catch fire, although there was heavy lightning in the area when the incident occurred.
